Video Marketing – It’s Fun and Easy! (Part 3)

Over the past two weeks, I have shared my tips on why I like video marketing and what products I use a lot, a little and not at all. This week, I would like to share more about my process.

Using Google+ Hangouts on Air (HOA)

One of my favorite benefits to using HOAs is that the video is automatically stored on your YouTube Channel. Yippie! No wasting time uploading into an editor. I do not edit the videos I make using HOAs, but you can use the editing tools that YouTube provides or your own editing software if you wanted.
Do I use a Script? Nope. I have a topic idea and bullet points of what I would like to talk about. Then I just go for it. If it’s SUPER horrible, I will delete the video and make another. Remember that the beauty of video is to let your personality shine through, so if you can not say a word correctly, just say that and move on.

Videos On The Go

I use my Samsung S4. I had taken exactly 2 selfies before I made my first Target video. I had no idea how to hold the phone, how good the audio quality was going to be or what effects the lighting in the store would have. I have now gotten used to most of the features and I love my little phone! It has white balancing (which I keep on auto), grid lines (that I always have on) so you can line up your shots, front and back cameras, picture in picture capability, you can even pause your taping and restart without having to create another video! Tip of a Lifetime. Hold your cellphone camera sideways.
I have DropBox set up on my phone to auto upload my photos and videos to my account. It’s a great time saver and it’s great to have everything backed up incase something crazy happens. If you do not have an account, you can sign up for one here.

What’s Next?

I then put all the clips in iMovie and edit away! So far, I have only used the music provided by iMovie.
Once the video is done, I upload it to my YouTube account. Ta-da! I’m done!

If you are concerned about the quality of your video, don’t be. Concentrate on the quality of the content. Your skills will get better. I promise. Find your favorite YouTube personality, click on the videos link and then sort from oldest to newest. Look at their first videos. The reason you like them is because of their content, message and personality.
