I’m passionate about being a Virtual Assistant and working with small business owners. I know how hard you work to run your business – everything from marketing, pricing, and strategizing to creating, designing, and promoting! Your hands are full of lots of different tasks and social media is just one piece of your whole business. But what I want to show you is how you can make social media work for you! Its also something that can be easily outsourced if you cannot handle one more thing! Asking for help is not a weakness!
Today I just want to give you a glimpse into the types of ideas and strategies.
1) There is no one size fits all approach to social media: what works for one person or business might not work for another. Social media is meant to be highly personalized, to truly show your brand and personality. It might take a little more time upfront to come up with a personalized strategy, but once you know your strategy you’ll know what you will want your social media channels to look like.
2) Only begin a social media account if you have the time and energy to devote to it. These days there are so many social media channels: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Blogging, Snapchat, Periscope, Stumbleupon and many, many more. Understanding and creating content for each of these can quickly become overwhelming, especially for small businesses. I’m here to tell you, you don’t have to participate in all of them. Rather, I would love to see you only choose to partake in a couple of them, but do those couple extremely well!
3) There is a reason it is called social media. Being social is so important. Clients and customers want to connect with a brand. They want to see behind the scenes snapshots, interact with the creator of the products, and feel like they are being heard. Don’t simply promote your own content, engage with those who follow you and make them feel important. It’s about building relationships with followers so they turn into customers and clients…. and who knows, maybe will even recommend you to family and friends 😉
